About Asher Wood

           Asher Wood was born in Dallas, TX.  He has a B.A. in Art from Davidson College.  After time in Edinburgh, Scotland, he moved to Nashville, TN.  Aside from a year in New York City, he has been in Nashville for just over a decade.  

 

           Asher continues to primarily explore the medium of encaustic, which involves creating paint with melted beeswax and powdered pigments.  While encaustic dates back as early as the Egyptians, who used it in their tombs, Asher prefers to use this medium for the purposes of excavation and discovery, revealing substructures, hidden found objects, and ideas.
